Mount Semeru

Mount Semeru



Mount Semeru is the highest volcano in Java with an altitude of 3.676 meters. The summit of Mount Semeru is Mahameru peak which contained a crater called Crater Jonggring Saloko. In the rainy season, temperatures in Mahameru about 4-10 degree Celcius and at the peak of the dry season minus 0 degree Celcius. The weather in this place often foggy and the wind was blowing pretty hard.
For climbers who want to climb advised not to go to the crater Jonggring Saloko and also not allowed to clomb the south, because there are poisonous gases known as "Wedhus Gembel" and a lava flow.
